The New Zealand Sportfishing puts out a regular newsletter – Council Current Lines,  23rd October 2013

The moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, this is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, the Age of Aquarius. Hmmmm wonder if the song has any influence on the upcoming fishing season. Apparently it is not going to be a ‘La Nina’ or an ‘El Nino’ but a transition season with big easterlies, warmer water, big blue marlin and yellowfin tuna, yay some yellowfin for a change! Sounds like a Tui advert doesn’t it!

Water Temperatures From a very reliable unreliable type the water was 18 degrees out at the Mokohinaus last weekend, green with lots of sharks in it. At least he was out there fishing and not attending committee meetings like the rest of us.

Jerry Garrett There was a special naming ceremony held recently at the world famous Tuna Club in Avalon, where local fishing hero Jerry (Broadbill) Garrett had a room in the prestigious club named after him. Check it out here; CLICK HERE the video runs for just over 25 minutes and there is a lot of history, candid comments and memories that Jerry has amassed over the years. Well worth the time to watch. Well done to our own Jerry (Broadbill) Garrett.
